Competition, Yan han-China
This architecture competition aimed to design a new urban settlement in the city of Yahan, in collaboration with my friend and fellow architect, Renato Russi. We proudly secured second place in the competition (2014).
The site, nestled in mountainous terrain, posed significant challenges due to its steep slopes and limited accessibility. The main difficulty lay in strategically positioning the commercial and residential zones while ensuring harmony with the rugged landscape.
Our conceptual approach drew inspiration from the irregular forms of natural rock formations, translating their organic geometry into a thoughtful urban layout that respects and integrates seamlessly with the steep terrain.
Ce concours d’architecture visait à concevoir un nouvel ensemble urbain dans la ville de Yahan, en collaboration avec mon ami et confrère architecte, Renato Russi. Nous avons eu la fierté d’obtenir la deuxième place au concours (2014).
Le site, situé dans un terrain montagneux, présentait des défis importants en raison de ses fortes pentes et de son accessibilité limitée. La principale difficulté résidait dans la disposition stratégique des zones commerciales et résidentielles tout en assurant une harmonie avec le paysage escarpé.
Notre approche conceptuelle s’inspire des formes irrégulières des formations rocheuses naturelles, traduisant leur géométrie organique en un plan urbain réfléchi, respectueux du relief et parfaitement intégré au terrain abrupt.
